The William Jewell College women's soccer opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play this evening hosting Drury University at Greene Stadium. The Cardinals and Panthers ended the game with a 0-0 tie. Jewell moves to 1-0-2 overall and 0-0-1 in GLVC play while Drury also moves to 1-0-2 and 0-0-1 in the GLVC.
The first half was even as Jewell registered seven shots with two on goal. Drury countered with three shots and two on goal.
The second half proved to be much like the first with both teams exchanging shots but none of them getting into the goal and thus overtime was forced.
The two teams would battle another two overtime periods with each seeing their share of shots but would eventually end the contest with a 0-0 tie.
Aspen Hawkins led the Cardinals with six shots and goal keeper
Jordan Lewis had nine saves on the evening.
The Cardinals will travel to Rolla, Mo., to continue GLVC play on Sunday, September 13 against Missouri S&T at 12:00 p.m.
