First Half Surge Leads Bearcats over Cardinals

The William Jewell College women's soccer team suffered their first loss of 2015 falling 4-2 Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill.    
 
Jewell gave up four goals in the first twenty- five minutes of the first half which proved to be enough for McKendree. 
 
The Cardinals did score two goals in the second half both coming from senior Jade Gifford.  Gifford scored on a penalty kick at the 67:07 mark of the second half. She scored again at the 74:48 mark off an assist from Alyson Galler.
 
McKendree dominated the stat sheet leading 20-7 in shots and 13-2 for shots on goal. 
 
The Cardinals (2-1-2, 1-1-1 GLVC) will travel to Springfield, Ill., to take on University of Illinois-Springfield on Sunday.  Kick off is slated for 12:00 p.m.
