The William Jewell College women's soccer team traveled east for a Great Lakes Valley Conference game against the University of Illinois-Springfield (UIS) on Sunday and came up short, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Prairie Stars.
The first half saw very limited opportunities for both teams as each team combined for only six shots in the first half. Jewell led in shots 4-2 in the half.
UIS scored the only goal of the contest at the 65:41 mark when Eileen Kenny scored off a pass from Karisa Rogers and UIS would hold the Cardinals scoreless the rest of the way.
For the Cardinals,
Aspen Hawkins led the attack, registering four shots, while senior
Jade Gifford recorded three shots.
In net,
Jordan Lewis got the start and saved three shots.
The Cardinals (2-2-2 , 1-2-1 GLVC) will travel to Claremore, Okla., on Tuesday, September 22 to take on Rogers State University at 4:30 p.m.
