Ethan Delaney's two second half goals helped the William Jewell College men's soccer team secure its first league victory of the fall Sunday, topping University of Illinois-Springfield 2-0.
The Cardinals improve to 2-4-0 on the season and 1-3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Prairie Stars sink to 2-4-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the GLVC.
Jewell and UIS headed into the halftime intermission level at 0-0 with the home team holding an 8-6 edge in shots.
Ethan Delaney then scored the first of his two goals one minute into the second half off a pass from
Kit Russell. He scored his second goal of the game at the 78 minute mark off a pass from
Brodi Sabiston.
UIS ended with a 14-11 advantage in shots and
Joe Keeven turned aside nine shots in the game for the Cardinals.
