The William Jewell College men's soccer team returned to Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday night hosting Bellarmine University. The Knights blanked the Cards 3-0 to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC. Jewell falls to 2-5-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the GLVC.
Bellarmine displayed tough defense in a scoreless first half. They were able to register 9 total shots in the first half with three on goal. The Knights held the Cardinals to three shots but none on goal.
Both teams missed scoring opportunities and Bellarmine finally converted at the 75:36 mark of the game when Brandon Shuck scored off a corner pass from Beau Laufer to go up 1-0.
The Knights struck again four minutes later when Mike Albes found the back of the net off a pass from Shuck and increased the lead to 2-0.
Ryan Fagan scored his first goal of the season for Bellarmine at the 88:42 mark to produce the final score of 3-0.
Bellarmine outshot Jewell 21-8 on the night and goalie
Joe Keeven of the Cardinals had seven saves on the evening.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday as they host University of Southern Indiana. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
