The William Jewell women's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a draw with University of Nebraska-Kearney 1-1. This was the first game of the season for both teams.
The Cardinals scored first on
Emily Monroe's first goal of the season in the thirteenth minute. Six minutes later, UNK's Nicole Potthoff would tie the game with a goal from five yards out in the center.
The two teams both missed opportunities to grab a lead in the second period and both overtimes with both goalkeepers having important saves late in the contest.
Monroe led Jewell with four shots while
Aspen Hawkins and
Emma Baldridge each had three.
Alex Dressman totaled seven saves.
The Cardinals return to the field Sunday, September 6 as they play host to Upper Iowa at 1:30 p.m.
