Box Score The William Jewell College men's basketball team lost their fourth straight on Thursday falling 69-58 to McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill.  Jewell falls to 5-8 overall and 0-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while McKendree improves to 8-5 and 1-4 in the GLVC.
It was a tale a two halves for the Cardinals as they came out and established a 14 point lead in the first half with just over four minutes until halftime.  The Bearcats closed the first half on an 11-4 run and went into halftime trailing Jewell 37-30.
The Cardinals held on to the lead until the 11 minute mark when the Bearcats took their first lead of the game off two free throws from John Murphy.
It would be a lead McKendree would not relinquish and built it to as high as 13 before producing the 11 point winning margin.
The Cardinals were outscored 39-21 in the second half and shot only 21 percent from the field after halftime, including a dreadful 2-16 from three-point land.
Jewell was also called for 26 fouls on the night which McKendree took advantage of by going 24-34 from the charity stripe.
Senior
Darius Tomlin led the Cardinals in scoring with 16 while
Patrick Whelan was the only other Jewell player in double figures with 13.  Newcomer
Larry Fitzgerald  came off the bench to score 8 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and
Austin Regier was two points short of another double double as he finished with 8 points and a game high 15 rebounds.
Jewell will travel to Springfield, Ill., on Saturday where they will take on Illinois-Springfield.  Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
