The William Jewell College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Bellarmine on Sunday afternoon in Louisville, K.Y. Junior goal keeper
Jordan Lewis made six saves in the loss for the Cardinals (2-8-2, 2-7-1 GLVC).
Bellarmine netted both goals in the first half and neither team found the netting in a hard-fought second half. The Knights (9-1-2, 7-1-2 GLVC) outshot the Cardinals 21-5 (6-1, 2-1 SCIAC) in the contest but only 6-2 in the second half.
The first goal came just at the 25:34 mark in the first half when Jordan Chelbowy found the back of the net off a pass from Mary Beth Gorham. Gorham tacked on another assist just eight minutes later when she found Audrey Van Der Elst who netted home her fourth goal of the year to make it 2-0 in the 33rd minute.
The Cardinals continue their GLVC schedule and return home to face University of Illinois-Springfield on Friday. Kick-off is slated for 5:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
