A late goal doomed the William Jewell College men's soccer team, as they dropped their Great Lakes Valley Conference tilt with Saint Joseph's College on Sunday afternoon 1-0.
The game was marked by strong defense and physicality. During the game, Jewell committed 19 fouls while the Pumas committed 12. The Cardinals missed some scoring chances as they had 14 shots in the game and five shots on goal.Â

Quinn Ruggeri recorded five saves on the first four shots on goal before Julian Zylfiu netted the game winner in the 82nd minute. The goal would ultimately prove to be the game winner.
With the loss, Jewell's second in a row, the Cardinals fall to 2-3-0 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play on the season. Saint Joseph's earns their first win of the season and improves to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The Cardinals will head to St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, September 23 as they take on Maryville University. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 p.m.
