The William Jewell College women's soccer team opened up Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo., on Friday afternoon. Jewell hosted the Flyers from Lewis University and earned their first win of the season by shutting out Lewis 1-0. The Cards improve to 1-1-1 overall and 1-0 in GLVC play while Lewis falls to 2-2 and 0-1 in league play.
In the first half the Cardinals found the back in the net in the first three minutes of the game.

Jordan Lewis made her return to the lineup and made an immediate impact by saving 9 first half shots and the Cards led 1-0 at halftime.
The Cards dominated possession in the second half and their defensive pressure was too much for the Flyers to overcome as Jewell held on for the 1-0 win
Jewell outshot the Flyers 8-3 in the second half and overall held a 16-14 advantage. Lewis finished the game with 11 saves.
William Jewell will continue GLVC play on Sunday, September 11 as they host Wisconsin-Parkside at 12:00 p.m.
