William Jewell College junior guard Patrick Whelan has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, it was announced by the Conference office on Monday.

The junior guard from Manchester, England Averaged 30.0 points on 21-of-33 (.636) shooting, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two GLVC home wins last week.  He posted a career-high 31 points on 11-of-19 (.578) shooting to go along with 11 rebounds and three assists against Maryville for team's first GLVC win of the year.  Two days later, he netted 29 points, including the game-winning three-pointer, on 10-of-14 (.714) shooting, while adding five rebounds in the win over Missouri-St. Louis.  Whelan earns William Jewell's first ever Player of the Week award in men's basketball. 

The Cardinals are back at home on Thursday as they take on Lewis University.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
