Box Score The William Jewell volleyball team fell 3-0 to Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday evening by scores of 25-15, 27-25, 25-18. The loss drops Jewell to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET ONE: Jewell and UMSL played even during the second half of the set but an early 14-6 lead gave the Tritons the 25-15 opening win.
- SET TWO: The Cardinals again fell into an early hole at 11-3 but this time clawed their way back going on a 14-4 run to pull ahead 17-15. Jewell needed just three points for the win before the Tritons mounted a rally that saw them go on an 10-3 run to take the second set in extra points, 27-25 and bring a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
- SET THREE: In the finale, the Cardinals once again fell behind by as many as nine (21-12) before putting together a run. The Cardinals scored four consecutive points on kills from Maddie Wingert and Tori Vogt to pull within 23-18 before UMSL finished the match with a kill and Jewell error.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals struggled offensively majority of the night, hitting just .016 compared to UMSL's .195 clip.
- UMSL out-blocked the Cardinals 8-1, but Jewell had the advantage along the back row with 64 digs to UMSL's 63.

- Tolberd upped her streak of double-digit dig games to 44 consecutive contests and came into the week ranking 17th among all active NCAA II players with 4.91 digs per set in her career.
