Box Score The William Jewell College women's tennis team's comeback attempt fell just short as they dropped a 5-4 decision this afternoon against Baker University in their Breast Cancer Awareness match at Clayview Country Club. 

The Cardinals fall to 0-1 overall while the Wildcats improve to 1-0.

Jewell fell behind 3-0 after doubles but came back with a flurry in singles play.

First-year player Morgan Holopirek and junior Hannah Waine each earned straight set wins while senior Claire Mackay and junior Whitney Holloman won in three sets.  The Wildcats were able to clinch the dual with wins at No.1 and No. 6 singles respectively. 

The Cardinals will open spring season action when they host University of Nebraska-Omaha in an exhibition match on Sunday, January 21.  First serve is set for 4:45 p.m.
