HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET ONE: In the opener the Panthers used a 4-0 run to turn a one point deficit into a three point advantage only to see the Cardinals tie things up at 12-12. From there Drury went on a 9-3 run to pull away 21-15 and force a Cardinal timeout. Three kills from Stefanie Richterkessing helped Jewell pull within 24-22 but a service error gave Drury the set.
- SET TWO: The early goings of set two was all Jewell as the Cards jumped out to a 20-10 lead, led by five kills from Elizabeth Quinn. Jewell struggled to put the set away however, allowing Drury to pull within 22-19 before three kills sealed the set 25-20.
- SET THREE: Set three was a back-and-forth affair as the largest lead of the set was Jewell at 7-4. A Grace Miller kill staved off set point and pulled Jewell within 24-23 before a kill from the Panthers' Sarah Kite ended the rally.
- SET FOUR: After leading by as many as six late, the Cardinals had to hold off a furious Drury rally to tie the match. With Jewell leading 22-16, the Panthers put together a 6-1 run to pull within one at 23-22. The two teams traded points, including ties at 24, 25, and 26 a piece. The Cardinals trailed 26-25 but a Panther error, followed by a service ace and kill from Madeline Johnson helped Jewell pull out the victory 28-26 and force the fifth set.
- SET FIVE: In the finale, the Panthers looked as though they might run away leading 10-7 before another Jewell rally made things interesting. Three consecutive kills from Johnson and Maddie Wingert (2) knotted things up at 10-10. Drury regained the lead at 14-12 before a service error pulled the Cards within one. A kill from Drury's Emmalee Chrest allowed the Panthers to slip away with the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
