GAME ONE | Cardinals 5 - Lincoln 3
In the opener, Lincoln got on the board early as Kiley Kerr ripped a lead off triple and scored to put Jewell in the hole, just two batters into the game. The Blue Tigers took advantage of a Cardinal error to take a 2-0 lead in the third inning.
In top of the fourth, the Jewell bats came alive beginning with
Kelsey Morgan who roped a two-out single to left field and stole second.
Gabby Brown then walked and advanced on a wild pitch to put two Cardinals in scoring position for
Lindsay Glynn who singled through the left side, to get Jewell on the board. Brown then scored on a single from
Madelynne Greenstreet to tie the game at two.
The Blue Tigers regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth before Jewell rallied in following frame. The first two Cardinal batters reached base on a single and a fielding error before Glynn again came through with a two RBI double to center to put Jewell on top 4-3. After a Lincoln pitching chance, Glynn scored on a passed ball to give the Cards the final margin of 5-3.
Jewell out hit LU 11-2 while both teams committed two errors. Greenstreet, Glynn, and
Ashlyn Sutton all posted two hits with Glynn having a career-best three RBI. Freshman
Sarah Lewis (2-3) tossed her second complete game, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Madison Rager (2-6) took the loss for Lincoln over 5 1/3 innings of work.

In the night cap, the Cards got on the board in the third inning as Greenstreet scored on a single from
Brooke Bernard. The Blue Tigers tied the game on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Taylor Alarcon gave Jewell the lead once again with a single through the left side, scoring
Madesen Gage, who was pinch running for Bernard.
Trailing 2-1 in bottom of the sixth frame, the Blue Tigers put the first two runners on base before a sacrifice fly and double to center allowed two runs to score and Lincoln to the take the 3-2 lead.
Jewell put the tying run in scoring position in the seventh as
Sydne Brashear upped her on base streak to 18 games with a single down the left field line and advanced to second, but was stranded.
Sutton again posted two hits, joined by Brashear, Bernard, and Alarcon as the Cards out hit Lincoln 9-4.
Greenstreet (1-2) took the loss in the circle, going five innings, allowing three earned runs on just three hits, while striking out a career high six batters.
