The William Jewell College women's soccer team opened up their 2017 season on Sunday afternoon in Joplin, Mo., against Missouri Southern State University.  The Cards got a goal in the 77th minute to down the Lions 1-0 and move to 1-0 on the season while Missouri Southern falls to 0-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lexy Hawkins took a pass from Alyson Galler and knocked home the only goal of the game from the top of the box at the 77:31 mark.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Jewell outshot Missouri Southern 12-10 and edged the Lions in corner kicks 2-1. 
 
In Goal
Senior goal keeper Jordan Lewis had five saves on the afternoon to earn victory number one on the young season.

Jewell will open up the home portion of their 2017 season on Friday, September 8 against University of Illinois Springfield.    Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
