The William Jewell men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday night versus Baker University and never looked back. The Cardinal offense was firing on all cylinders to earn Jewell its third win of the season by a final score of 94-58. The victory improves Jewell to 3-8 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st Half: At the first media timeout the Cardinals were on a 8-0 run and held a nine point lead. Midway through the first half Byron Harp found a wide-open Mason Alexander who sank a three-point basket. Free throws from Jackson Golightly followed by a Keith Hayes three pointer moved the lead for Jewell to 16 points with eight minutes remaining. Eysan Wiley kept the momentum rolling with a defensive board on one end and a strong layup on the other. Robbie Hansen joined in on the three-point parade as he drilled a shot of his own to keep the lead at 14 for Jewell. With seconds remaining in the half, Hayes rebounded his own missed shot and dropped in a last second floater over the Baker defender to send the Cardinals in at halftime with a 22-point lead.
- 2nd Half: Nick Bradley kept things going for Jewell in the second half with another three-point basket. Hayes, Alexander, and Harp all followed suit and were able to hit shots from well beyond the three-point arch. John Ekwamadu showed his physicality in the paint with a strong offensive board and put-back. Garret Skipworth also joined in on the three-point parade and drilled a basket of his own while Chandler Hutherson finished off the game by finding an open Carter Olsen in transition for the easy basket.
