The William Jewell softball team earned a walk off win in game two to split a double header with Truman State on Sunday afternoon at the Spratt Sports Complex. The Cardinals took game two 5-4 after falling 6-2 in the opener to move to 15-9 on the season and 2-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
GAME 1
Final: 6-2, Loss
HOW IT HAPPENED
- B1: The Cardinals jumped on top first as Courtney Beatty singled to right field to score Madelynne Greenstreet. (1-0, Jewell)
- B4: Jewell added to their lead in the fourth inning as Taylor Alarcon doubled and scored on a single from Madi Giles. (2-0, Jewell)
- T5: The Bulldogs used a big fifth inning to take their first lead of the day, scoring six runs on seven hits. (6-2, Truman)
PITCHERS
Winning Pitcher: Alyssa Hajduk (7-1) earned the win, giving up just two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and six walks.
Losing Pitcher:
Anna Biondo (6-5) suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs on 11 hits while striking out five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T2: Truman State opened the scoring in the nightcap with a three run home run in the top of the second frame to take an early lead. (3-0, Truman)
- B4: The Cardinals got on the board in the fourth when Emily Hoover took the first pitch of the inning over the left field wall for her third home run of the season. (3-1, Truman)
- B5: An inning later, Jewell tied the game as Kelsey Morgan reach base on an error and scored on an RBI single from Greenstreet. Bernard followed with a double to left center to knot things up at three. (3-3)
- T7: The Bulldogs retook the lead with a run on two hits in the top of the seventh. (4-3, Truman)
- B7: Down to their final out, the Cardinals rallied as Giles singled followed by a walk to Greenstreet to put two runners on for Hoover. The sophomore sent a single up the middle to tie the game at four and was followed by Beatty who stepped to the plate and dropped a hit to left center field, allowing Greenstreet to score for the walk off win.
PITCHERS
Winning Pitcher: Greenstreet (7-2) allowed just four hits and struck out five to earn the complete game win.
Losing Pitcher: Lauren Dale (1-5) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits.
