The William Jewell baseball suffered a sweep at the hands of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday dropping the opener 8-5 and the nightcap 6-1. The Cards fall to 12-12 on the season and 4-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- B3: UMSL was the first to get on the scoreboard, scoring a run on a wild pitch. (1-0, UMSL)
- T4: The Cardinals immediately responded by tying the game on a single from Nick Easley, scoring Trent Bollman (1-1)
- B4: The Tritons got three hits and took advantage of a Cardinal error to score three runs and push their lead to three. (4-1, UMSL)
- B5: UMSL tacked on four runs in the fifth to make it a seven run game. (8-1, UMSL)
- T7: Jewell made things interesting in the seventh as Ben Pautler and Nate Pecota reached base and scored on a Chase Redick triple, but a ground out ended the rally. (8-5, UMSL)
PITCHERS
Winning Pitcher: Kevin Smith (1-3) went the distance, allowing three earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Losing Pitcher:
Zach Hutcherson (1-2) suffered the loss, despite not allowing an earned run in 2.2 innings of work.

- T2: The Cardinals got on the board as Robbie Colburn reached base on a single and scored on a passed ball. (2-1, UMSL)
- B6: The Tritons got three hits, including a double and extended the lead to three runs. (4-1, UMSL)
- B7: UMSL added a run on a Cardinal error in the seventh to make it a four run game. (5-1, UMSL)
- B8: A sac fly to left field allowed Josh Shoemaker to score for the Tritons and push the lead to the final of five. (6-1, UMSL)

Winning Pitcher: Jim Brandt (3-0) got the win, allowing no earned runs on eight hits while striking out four.
Losing Pitcher:
Eric Smith (0-3) took the loss, with three earned on nine hits and four strikeouts.
