The William Jewell softball team earned a split with Bellarmine University on Friday afternoon in Louisville, Ky. by taking game one 5-0 and dropping the nightcap 4-2. With the split, the Cardinals move to 21-17 overall and 8-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T3: The Cardinals opened the scoring in a big way with three runs on five hits in the third inning. Three consecutive singles loaded the bases for Phoebe Dabbour who recorded a sacrifice fly to center scoring Lindsay Glynn. Courtney Beatty then cleared the bases with a two-run double. (3-0, Jewell)
- T6: Jewell picked up two more runs in the sixth as Madi Giles reached base on a Bellarmine error, allowing Glynn to score before crossing the plate herself on Madelynne Greenstreet's fourth triple of the year. (5-0, Jewell)
PITCHERS
Winning Pitcher:
Anna Biondo (9-8) picked up the win and her fourth shutout of the season after limiting the Knights to just three hits and striking out a career high 12.
Losing Pitcher: Sabrina Fussenegger (5-11) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits over three innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- B6: After five scoreless innings Bellarmine broke the ice with four runs on three hits and two Cardinal errors to take a late lead. (4-0, BU)
- T7: The Cardinals attempted to rally, posting three doubles from Glynn, Giles, and Brooke Bernard to make it a two run game. An error by the Knights put the tying run on base but a groundout ended the threat. (4-2, BU)
PITCHERS
Winning Pitcher: Madeline Kurtz (5-8) earned the win, working 6.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits.
Losing Pitcher:
Sarah Lewis (4-4) suffered the loss, despite not allowing an earned run. The sophomore struck out four while giving up five hits.
Save: Alexis Sumner (1) picked up her first save of the season, recording the final out of the game.
