The William Jewell softball team split a double header with McKendree University on Saturday afternoon to move to 20-14 on the season and 7-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Cardinals down the Bearcats, who were ranked as high as No. 25 earlier this season, by a score of 2-1 in the opener before dropping the nightcap 7-6.
GAME 1
Final: 2-1, Win
HOW IT HAPPENED
- B3: With two outs in the third inning, Phoebe Dabbour sent a single to center field to plate Brooke Bernard and give Jewell their first lead of the day. (1-0, Jewell)
- T6: The Bearcats tied the game in the sixth, scoring an unearned run on a fielder's choice up the middle. (1-1)
- B6: The Cardinals responded quickly as Allison Rawls drew a lead off walk and was run for by Lindsay Glynn. Winning Pitcher: Sarah Lewis (4-3) tossed a complete game gem, allowing just five hits and two walks, while striking out four.
