The William Jewell women's basketball team played host to Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Bellarmine University on Thursday evening. A balanced attack from head coach
Jill Slominski's squad improved the Cardinals to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in GLVC play with the 76-61 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st Quarter: Three-point baskets from Antoinette Mussorici and Natalie Denzer sparked the Jewell offense early in the game. Kayla Harrell and Kiara Bradley joined in with buckets of their own to push the lead for Jewell to eight in the opening period.
- 2nd Quarter: Bradley kept things rolling into the next period while putting in three consecutive baskets in a row. Successful free throws from Sydney Offield sent the Cardinals into the half with an 11-point advantage.
- 3rd Quarter: Harrell kept the momentum rolling in the second half by sinking another shot from beyond the arch. Mussorici kept the lead at double-digits with another three-point basket for the Cardinals. Jewell entered the final frame with a 54-45 advantage.
- 4th Quarter: As soon as the Knights would begin a run, the Cardinals were able to respond with baskets of its own. Down the stretch it was points from the charity stripe that would lead Jewell to the victory.
