The William Jewell volleyball team ran into a hot Missouri S&T team on Saturday, falling in three sets by scores of 25-21, 27-25, 25-21. The Cardinals drop to 10-14 on the season and 4-5 in conference play while the Miners improve to 18-6 and 5-4 respectively. 

How it Happened

• The Cardinals struggled offensively in the early going, hitting just .033 in the opening set. Jewell fell behind 21-13 before mounting a rally. Led by three kills from Grace Baucom, the Cards pulled within two before Emilee Schlader sealed the set for the Miners. 
• Unlike the opener, Jewell pulled ahead in the second set, leading by as many as six early. The Miners responded with a 14-7 run to take the lead 20-18. Jewell tied the score at 20, the first of three late ties before Missouri S&T put together back-to-back points for the win. 
• The finale was a battle the whole way with no team able to take more than two point advantage until the Miners scored the final three points of the set. 

For the Cardinals

• Paityn Hardison led the Cardinals with 13 kills while Baucom added 10. 
• Freshman Haidan Baade posted her third consecutive season-high game with 21 digs. 
• Lauren Castaneda led the offense with 24 assists. 
• Elizabeth Quinn was back to her ways along the net with six blocks while Maddie Wingert finished with five. 

For the Miners

• Schlader posted a double-double of 18 kills and 17 digs to go along with two aces. 
• Sarah McGinnis posted a match-high 40 assists, while Corrine Stulce had 17 digs.
