The William Jewell women's soccer team scored a season-best three goals to down Maryville University on Sunday afternoon to hand the Saints their first loss of the season. With the win, the Cardinals move to 2-7-1 and 2-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

How it Happened

• The Cardinals took an early lead as freshman Jayme Coon scored her first career goal just 75 seconds in on an assits from Avery Sanchez. 
• Maryville wasted little time responding with a goal in the ninth minute. 
• Coon beat the keeper and scored her second goal of the day in the 22nd minute. 
• Gracie Schweinfurth gave Jewell some insurance in the 56th minute putting a header into the net off a helper by Kayla Crowder. 

For the Cardinals

• Allison Malott led the Cardinals with four shots, including two on goal.
• Coon added three goals while Crowder and Schweinfurth chipped in two. 
• Kaylie Kappelmann posted five saves. 

For the Saints

• Maryville outshot the Cardinals 17-11 led by Alex Johnson's six.
• Elyse Waterhouse finished with two saves.
