Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Defense Holds as Cardinals Draw at Bellarmine

The William Jewell women's soccer team played a full 110 minutes but ended their Friday night showdown with Bellarmine in a scoreless draw. With the tie, the Cardinals move to 3-12-2 on the year and 3-10-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

How it Happened
  • Bellarmine got off 10 shots in the opening half compared to Jewell's four but Kaylie Kappelmann posted three saves to keep the Knights off the board. 
  • Kappelmann came up big again in overtime with three saves, including two in the final six minutes of play. 

For the Cardinals
  • Jayme Coon led the Cardinals with three shots including one on goal. 
  • Kappelmann finished with nine saves. 

For the Knights
  • Bellarmine totaled 25 shots, led by three on goal from Brielle Heuglin. 
  • Elyssa Francis had three saves for the Knights.

The Cardinals wrap up the season on Sunday at Indianapolis with an 11 a.m. kick off.
