The William Jewell women's volleyball team took on the No. 20 ranked Rockhurst Hawks on Tuesday night in non-conference action where they fell 3-0 by scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-14. The Cardinals drop to 11-19 overall while Rockhurst improves to 25-6.
How it Happened
- The Hawks opened up a 10-3 lead early in the match to force a timeout from head coach Carolyn Raynes. The Cardinals pulled within seven after back-to-back kills from Lily Johnson and Megan Rhule but Rockhurst closed the set on 7-1 run to win 25-12.
- Tied at nine early in set two the Hawks broke away for a 12-4 run to pull ahead 21-13. Jewell got an services aces from Kennedy Ruckh and Mary Booton along with two kills from Elizabeth Quinn to pull within six but an error gave Rockhurst the set, 25-18.
- The two teams played even through the early part of set three before Rockhurst closed the set on a 12-2 run to win 25-14.
For the Cardinals
- Paityn Hardison's 11 kills led the offense with Rhule handing 13 assists.
- Ruckh posted a game-high 14 digs while Megan Tauke finished with three blocks.
For the Hawks
- Rockhurst hit .423 as a team, including .622 in the opening set, led by Alyssa Woodman's 12 kills.
- Dani Prusha posted 43 assists for the Hawks.
