Cardinals Post Two Shutouts to Open 2019 Season

The William Jewell softball team opened the 2019 season with back-to-back shutouts with a 7-0 win over Ouachita Baptist before downing Arkansas-Monticello 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T1: The Cardinals jumped out quickly as Madelynne Greenstreet singled and came around to score on a double from Sarah Lewis. Another single, this time off the bat of Allison Rawls plated Lewis and Emily Hoover. (3-0, Jewell)
  • T4: Tori Farr got a two-out rally started with a single and advancing to second on an error, before scoring on a double from Greenstreet. (4-0, Jewell)
  • T5: The Cardinals used RBI from Lewis and Taylor Alarcon to extend the lead to six before Taytum Carson scored on a passed ball to bring the score to the final. (7-0, Jewell)

  • B1: Jewell again jumped out to an early lead after back-to-back singles from Lindsay Glynn and Courtney Beatty. Beatty scored on Lewis' third double of the afternoon. (2-0, Jewell)
  • B3: Consecutive singles put two runners on for Allison Rawls who reached base on an error allowing Hoover to cross the plate. (3-0, Jewell)
  • B6: RBI from Ashlyn Sutton and Greenstreet in the sixth pushed the lead to five after six frames. (5-0, Jewell)
