Pitching, Defense Shine as Cardinals Shutout Bearcats Twice

The William Jewell softball used stellar pitching performances on Tuesday to shutout Southwest Baptist twice by identical scores of 3-0 in non-conference action. The Cardinals move two 9-7 on the season with the sweep. 

GAME ONE 
Jewell - 3
Southwest Baptist - 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T2: Ashlyn Sutton put Jewell on the board first in the second inning with a double to score Allison Rawls. (1-0, Jewell)
  • T6: Rawls got the RBI in the sixth inning with a single to left center to scoring Anna Biondo and putting Jewell up by two. (2-0, Jewell)
  • T7: The Cardinals added a run in the final frame as Courtney Beatty singled down the left field line allowing Lindsay Glynn across the plate. (3-0, Jewell)

  • T1: Jewell went on top early in the nightcap as Glynn singled to right field and scored on a ground out by Beatty. (1-0, Jewell)
  • T3: Madelynne Greenstreet pushed the lead to two with her first home run of the season to right center. (2-0, Jewell)
  • T5: The Cardinals tacked on an additional run in the fifth as Taytum Carson pinch ran for Rawls and scored on a Bearcat error. (3-0, Jewell)
