Jewell Falls Twice at Missouri-St. Louis

The William Jewell softball team dropped two tough games on the road at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday by scores of 7-3 and 2-1 to move to 21-21 overall and 8-14 in Great Lakes Valley Conference place. 

GAME ONE
UMSL 7, Jewell 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • B1: The Tritons got on the board first in the opener on an RBI from Andee Tiffee. (1-0, UMSL)
  • T3: Jewell took their first lead of the day in the third as Lindsay Glynn and Courtney Beatty sent RBI singles through the infield to plate two. (2-1, Jewell)
  • T5: Glynn blasted her fourth home run of the season, now tied for the team lead, in the fifth to expand the Cardinal lead. (3-1, Jewell)
  • B5: UMSL used two, two-run home runs in the bottom of the frame to take a two run lead. (5-3, UMSL)
  • B6: The Tritons added two more in the sixth to bring the score to the final. (7-3, UMSL)

IN THE CIRCLE
  • Win: Tiffee (12-4) earned the win, tossing a complete game, striking out seven. 
  • Loss: Madelynne Greenstreet (8-4) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on six hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T3: The Cardinals got on the board early in the nightcap, as Beatty roped a double to score Greenstreet. (1-0, Jewell)
  • B7: Down to their final out, the Tritons got a two RBI single up the middle from Carly Kingery to earn the walk-off win. (2-1, UMSL)

  • Win: Kingery (13-10) got the win, allowing one earned run on five hits. 
  • Loss: Anna Biondo (8-11) suffered the loss, despite allowing just six hits and two runs.
