The William Jewell baseball team put up 30 runs in a doubleheader sweep of crosstown rival Rockhurst on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals took the opener 21-4, which is the most runs in a single game in the NCAA era, surpassing the 20 runs scored in a win over Sioux Falls in 2015. Jewell also won game two 9-4 to improve to 12-18-1 overall and 6-11 in Great Lakes Valley Conference games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T2: Rockhurst took an early lead on an RBI single by Michael Ruffolo in the second inning. (1-0, RU)
- B2: The Cardinals responded with a seven spot in the bottom of the frame as Nick Easley tied the game, scoring on an error by the Hawks. RBI from Chase Swisher, Tyler Murphy, Anthony Hansen, and Trent Bollman followed to put Jewell up by six. (7-1, Jewell)
- T3: A sac fly got one run back for the Hawks in the third. (7-2, Jewell)
- B4: After an Hansen sacrifice fly, Nick Gavin blasted a three-run home run over the left field wall to expand the Jewell lead to nine. (11-2, Jewell)

- B5: The Cards put up another crooked number in the fifth on RBI from Bollman and Nick Modrcin, coupled with multiple miscues by the Hawks (16-4, Jewell)

- T1: Rockhurst jumped out on top with a one out RBI single from Nathan Mark. (1-0, Jewell)
- T2: The Hawks pushed their lead to four in the following inning, taking advantage of a Cardinal error and an RBI single. (4-0, RU)
- B2: Jewell got a run back in the bottom of the second, as Trenton Worley dropped a bunt single, allowing Gavin to score. (4-1, RU)
- B5: The Cardinals took the lead in the fifth, plating four runs on four hits and a Rockhurst error. Hansen doubled to right center before scoring on a wild pitch, followed by Bollman crossing the plate on a sac fly off the bat of Modrcin. (5-4, Jewell)
- B7: Jewell gained some breathing room in the seventh as Ben Pautler doubled to right field, followed by a single from Worley, and walk to Murphy to load them up for Redick who sent a bases clearing two-bagger down the left field line to put the Cards on top by five. (9-4, Jewell)
