William Jewell team played 87 minutes of scoreless soccer on Thursday afternoon but a late goal sunk the Cardinals who fell to Southwest Minnesota 1-0 to drop to 0-2-1 on the season. 

How it Happened

• After the two teams battled for over 87 minutes, the Mustangs' Erin Fisher connected on a goal from six yards out off a corner kick to put Southwest Minnesota on top with under three minutes remaining in regulation. 

For the Cardinals

• Jewell collected just three shots on goal, led by two from Kayla Crowder. 
• Kaylie Kappelmann recorded a game-high seven saves.

For the Mustangs

• SMSU outshot the Cardinals 14-9, led by five from Alli Miskowiec.
• Abbey Hoisington followed with four shots and two on goal. 
• Alex Lotts and Allie Cook were each credited with an assist.
