The William Jewell women's soccer team dropped its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener on Sunday at Rockhurst by a final of 4-1. The loss moves the Cardinals to 0-3-1 on the season and 0-1 in GLVC play. 

How it Happened

• The Hawks jumped out to an early lead as Jillian Leetch scored from six yards out in the fifth minute. 
• After the break, Stephanie Ostrander got her own rebound and pushed the Rockhurst lead to two. 
• In the 71st minute, after a foul in the box, Kayla Crowder converted the penalty kick to put the Cardinals on the board. 
• Rockhurst scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to push the score to the final. 

For the Cardinals

• Crowder led Jewell with four shots, including two on goal. 
• Kaylie Kappelmann recorded eight saves. 

For the Hawks

• The Hawks outshot Jewell 22-8 including 12-3 on goal. 
• Leetch two goals on five shots to pace Rockhurst.
