ON TAP
The William Jewell volleyball team opens the season this week at the Washburn Invitational where they will take on four opponents from the MIAA and Lone Star Conferences. The Cardinals will begin with No. 5 Washburn on Friday at 12 p.m. followed by Emporia State at 4 p.m. Jewell wraps up the weekend with Northwest Missouri and Texas Woman's on Saturday. 

Jewell is under the direction of sixth year head coach Carolyn Raynes and welcomes back 13 letterwinners and three starters.  

YOU SHOULD NOTE
• The Cardinals must find a way to replace the production of a senior class who posted more than 1,300 kills, 3,700 digs, 1,000 assists and nearly 300 blocks during their four years.
• Paityn Hardison and Meghan Rhule return to headline the offense in 2019. Hardison finished with a team-best 276 kills as a freshman while Rhule was voted Co-Most Valuable Player after posting 658 assists and 231 digs.
• Jewell welcomes in a four-member freshman class this fall including right side Haleigh Borich, middle blocker Jessica Jacobs, setter Hannah Cope, and defensive specialist Haidan Baade.
