The William Jewell men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Rogers State to open the 2019 season on Friday evening at Greene Stadium. 

How it Happened

• Dawson Lee opened the scoring for the Cardinals with a goal from five yards out off a feed from Alex Trinidad after a free kick in the 24th minute. 
• Rogers State tied the game just minutes later as Jake Simpson put a header to the back of the net off. 
• The Hillcats scored twice more in the second half to pull away. 

For the Cardinals

• The Cardinals were outshot 24-13 on the night, led by Lee, Dakota Hayes, and Bennett Williams with two a piece. 
• Jose Cambreros opened his Cardinal career with 10 saves.  

For the Hillcats

• Jake Simpson and Jaxo Pitt led Rogers State with five shots each while Jordan Watson added four, all on goal. 
• Simpson posted three points on the night with a goal and an assist.
