SERIES INFORMATION
  • Southwest Baptist leads the NCAA-era series 4-2 and took both meetings last season. In the most recent meeting, SBU rallied in the second half to down the Cardinals, 71-66. Eysan Wiley put together a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Jewell has dominated much of the series during the NCAA era, winning 11 of 15 games, including the last five. Wiley put together a standout performance in the previous meeting with 26 points on 12-of-19 from the floor to go along with 15 rebounds. Jackson Golightly added 19 points while Mason Alexander chipped in 14.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • At this time last year, Grant Stubbs was one of Kansas City's top high school players and in the opening weekend of the season proved that he will be a force in the GLVC over the next four years. The freshman averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game in his debut games, which led the Cardinals over the weekend. He enters the week ranked 55th nationally with 28 total points.
  • The Cardinals struggled offensively last time out at No. 25 Southern Indiana, shooting just 29%, the lowest since 2016 against Bellarmine.
  • Jackson Golightly has been been one of the most quietly efficient players in the GLVC over the last two seasons, shooting nearly 50% from the field for his career. This season he has come out strong on the glass, utilizing his 6'7 reach and enters the week ranked 12th nationally with 7.50 defensive rebounds per game.
  • Eysan Wiley is well known for his blocking ability and for the first time in his career, leads the nation with three rejections per game thus far this season. The senior needs just two to surpass Chris Jones for second all-time in program history, currently sitting at 139. As a team, the Cardinals are averaging six blocks per game which is tied with GLVC foe Lidenwood for second nationally, behind only Colorado Mesa (6.5).
  • Carter Olsen has impressed in the early going, averaging 12 points and ranks in the top-50 nationally in steals per game (21st), three-point field goals per game (20th), total three-point field goals and total steals. The senior is averaging more than 32 minutes per outing after appearing in less than 10 per game on average through his first two seasons.
  • The three-point line has been a blessing and a curse this season for the Cardinals. Jewell ranks nearly last in the conference with a three-point field goal percentage of just 26% but on the flip side the Cardinals are fifth nationally, holding their opponents to just 20% from long range.
  • Grant Stubbs was a big pick up for the Cardinals both on the floor and amongst alumni as he is the eldest son of former Cardinal All-American Weldon Stubbs, '94. The senior Stubbs was inducted into the William Jewell Hall of Fame in 2016.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
  • Southwest Baptist got a later start than most in the league, missing their first three games due to COVID-19 protocol but are 2-1 since returning to the court after beating a solid Rockhurst team on Wednesday.
  • The Bearcats are averaging 8.0 points per night, which is second in the league. Leading the way is Brady Smith whose 19.3 points per outing is fourth in the GLVC and 38th nationally. Three other players also average in double digits.
  • Through the first three games of their season, SBU has taken care of the basketball very well, committing just 35 total turnovers, an average of 11.7 per game, which is in the top 25 in Division II.
  • The Bearcats are led by seventh year head man, Clark Sheehy, who has won more than 260 games in his career, coaching six All-Americans and 45 players who have gone on to play at the professional level.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
  • The Miners have struggled out of the gate, coming into the week with an 0-5 mark. However, of their five losses, three have been decided by less than 10 points.
  • Missouri S&T is led by second year head coach Bill Walker, who played for the Miners and graduated in 1987.
  • The team has five players averaging in double figures, including two freshmen. Julien Smith leads the way with 16.2 points per game while graduate student Mahamadou Kaba-Camera averages a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
  • The Miners dish out and take away the basketball well, ranking seventh in the nation in both total assists and total steals. Freshman Kaden Froebe is currently fourth nationally and first in the GLVC with more than 3.5 steals per night.
