KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In a game where the two teams scored nearly the same amount of points in the fourth quarter as the entire first half, the William Jewell women's basketball team came up short in a 67-57 loss at the hands of Rockhurst on Thursday at Mason-Halpin Field House downtown. The Cardinals fall to 1-2 on the season while Rockhurst improves to 2-1. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Both teams started slow offensively, with Jewell trailing by four at the end of the first quarter, 16-12. 
- A three pointer from Rockhurst's Lauren Garrison gave the Hawks a seven point lead with two minutes remaining in the second period. The Cardinals pulled within five before the break after a bucket from Elizabeth Ernsting. 
- Rockhurst scored the first eight points of the second half to take their largest lead of the day at 13, midway through the third quarter before Ainsley Tolson ended the scoring drought. The Cardinals were able to pull within three after a triple from Kiara Bradley with eight seconds on the clock but Daly Sullivan hit a half court shot at the buzzer to push the Hawks' advantage back to six. 
- In the final frame, the Hawks were able to expand their lead to as many as 12 before Jewell turned up the defensive intensity, forcing four turnovers. The Cardinals closed the gap to seven after a basket from Claire Burch but could get no closer.
FOR THE CARDINALS
	- Bradley poured in a game-high 22 points, eight rebounds and three steals while playing 36 minutes. 
- Tolson added 15 points, four assists and two steals. 
- In her first game of the season, redshirt senior Sydney Offield handed out six assists. 
- After committing 15 turnovers in the first half, Jewell made just six the rest of the way, while forcing Rockhurst into 26 turnovers leading to 22 points. 
FOR THE HAWKS
	- Jessina Rada led the Hawks with 21 points, on 5-of-10 from three. 
- Daly Sullivan finished with 16 points including 10 in the decisive fourth quarter. 
- Rockhurst won the battle on the glass, out-rebounding Jewell 43-30, including grabbing 13 offensive boards which led to 10 second chance points.

The Cardinals will open the home portion of the schedule on Saturday as they host No. 1 Drury at 1 p.m.
