The William Jewell men's basketball team suffered a 92-63 set back at Truman State on Saturday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo. The loss drops the Cardinals to 8-12 on the season and 3-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
How it Happened
- The teams traded points for the first six minutes of action until Truman went on a 16-1 run to quickly open up a 16 point advantage. After the Bulldogs expanded the lead 20 the Cardinals got five points from Mason Alexander to make it a 45-28 game at the half.
- Jewell cut the deficit down to 15 early in the second half but Truman pushed it back to as many as 31 late in the half.
For the Cardinals
- Jackson Golightly poured in 17 to lead the way for Jewell while Nick Bradley added 11 and Alexander 10.
- The Cardinals shot 40% from the field but connected on just 8-of-25 three point attempts.
For the Bulldogs
- Broderic Thomas led all scorers with 20 points as the Bulldogs put six players in double figures.
- Truman shot a blistering 62% from the field and 57% from three while remaining undefeated at home.
