The William Jewell women's basketball team fell 98-67 to No. 1 ranked Drury University on Saturday afternoon in the Mabee Center. The loss drops the Cardinals to 11-13 overall and 7-9 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals got off to a hot start scoring the first six points and forcing a quick Drury timeout. The Panthers followed with a 16-0 run before Lea Finn ended the skid with a three. Jewell ended the quarter on a 6-0 run, capped by another triple from Finn to trail by just two after 10 minutes.
- Drury made some separation in the second frame, allowing the Cardinals just nine points and took a 38-26 lead into the locker room.
- Both teams were on fire in the second half, combining for 55 points in the third quarter along as the Panthers grew their lead to as many as 31.
For the Cardinals
- Kiara Bradley led the Cardinals with 19 points while Finn added 11.
- Sydney Offield chipped in eight points, six assists and three steals.
- The Jewell bench outscored Drury 32-27.
- The Cardinals forced the top ranked Panthers into 19 turnovers, their third highest total this season.
For the Panthers
- Hailey Diestelkamp led all scorers with 40 points and 10 rebounds.
- Paige Robinson added 22 points while Daejah Bernard finished with 11 assists.
- Drury owned the paint outscoring the Cardinals 50-24.
