The William Jewell softball team finished out the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament on Sunday, dropping two games to Minnesota Crookston and the host St. Cloud State. The Cardinals move to 1-3 on the young season.
Game One: 2-6 vs. Minnesota Crookston
How it Happened
- Minnesota Crookston jumped on top first with a single run in both the third and fourth innings.
- Jewell tied the game in the fourth on an error and an RBI single by Taylor Alarcon.
- The Golden Eagles grabbed a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings to push their lead to the final of 6-2.
For the Cardinals
- The Cardinals were limited to five hits, three of which came off the bat of Allison Rawls.
- Aly Manhart (0-1) took the loss, allowing six earned over 5.2 innings but struck out a career-high eight on the day.
For the Golden Eagles
- Minnesota Crookston got three hits and two RBI from Malia Pula to lead their offense.
- Paige Pitlick (2-2) earned the win, giving up just one earned run and striking out five.
Game Two: 0-8 vs. St. Cloud State
How it Happened
- A two-run home run in the first inning put St. Cloud on top quickly in the night cap.
- The Huskies added two runs in the second inning and four in the third to earn the shortened game win.

- St. Cloud totaled nine hits, led by two each from Haley McFarlane, Alexandra Pinkowski, and Brooke Bowlin.
- Sydney LaPoint (2-0) received the win, allowing no runs on just four hits over four innings.
