Cardinals Down UW-Parkside to Split Final Day of Lewis Dome Invite

The William Jewell softball team earned a split in the final day of the Lewis Dome Invitational as they downed Wisconsin Parkside 7-5 before falling to Purdue Northwest 5-0. The Cardinals move to 3-2 on the young season. 


Game One: 7-5, William Jewell
How it Happened
  • The Cardinals quickly jumped on top in the day's opening game as Allison Rawls singled to center scoring Sarah Lewis. The Rangers tied the game in the bottom of the frame on a hit-by-pitch. 
  • Lindsay Glynn singled through the left field in the second inning to score Kolbee Kealoha to put Jewell back on top. 
  • Parkside took their first lead in the third on a two-RBI single up the middle by A. Hausl. 
  • Glynn again came up big in the fifth with a solo home run to left field to tie the game at three. 
  • Jewell put together a big sixth inning with four runs on three hits, including RBI knocks by Kelli McCallister and Tori Farr
  • The Rangers scored two more over the final two innings but could get no closer.

Game Two: 5-0, Purdue Northwest 
How it Happened
  • Purdue Northwest opened the final game of the tournament with two runs in the top of the first and added two more in the third. The Pride got one more run across in the fourth to bring the score to the final. 

For the Cardinals
  • Farr led the Cardinals with three hits over the two games while Glynn added two hits, and three RBI. 
  • Lewis (1-3) earned her first win of the year in against the Rangers, striking out a season-best nine. 
  • Kenzie Jones (1-1) suffered the loss in the nightcap, giving up two earned runs on nine hits. 

For the Rangers
  • Jessica Crull led the Rangers with four hits while Allison Hausl drove in three runs. 
  • Hausl (1-1) took the loss in the circle, giving up four earned on three hits. 

For the Pride
  • Shroyer and Noblett finished with three hits each to lead Purdue Northwest. 
  • Hill earned the win, working four innings and striking out five. 

Up Next 
Jewell heads south for the first time this season as they travel to the Drury Invitational next weekend.
