The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped their final game of the season at Southwest Baptist on Saturday by a final of 76-63. The Cardinals finish the 2019-2020 season at 11-17 overall and 7-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals got off to a solid start, closing the opening quarter on a 6-2 run, caped by back-to-back buckets from Kaitlyn Baird and Kiara Bradley, to make it a 19-17 Jewell lead.
- Southwest Baptist won the second quarter 21-13 and led by as many as nine but a three by Sydney Offield ended the run as the Cardinals trailed 38-32 at the half.
- Jewell came out of the intermission hot, scoring 11 of the first 13 points, to go from down six to up three after a layup by Claire Burch. The Bearcats would follow with a 19-0 run to go on top by as many as 15.
For the Cardinals
- Bradley led the Cardinals with 23 points and eight rebounds while Burch added 19 and six.
- In her final career game, senior Kelly Hendershot scored three points and grabbed one rebound.
- Jewell shot 45% from the floor and blocked three shots.
For the Bearcats
- Bailey Rezabek led all scorers with 27 points while Kyleigh Vaught added 20.
- Regan Tibbitts pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
- Southwest Baptist shot 51% from the floor and connected on 14-of-22 free throws.

The Cardinals will graduate Hendershot along with
Kelsi York,
Codee Myers, and
Natalie Denzer who all missed this season due to injury. Jewell will return a strong senior class next season however, which includes Bradley, Baird, Burch,
Sydney Offield,
Rhyann Fisher,
Annemarie Boeh, and
Macyn Wilbers.
