Cardinals Earn 10th Win with Big Victory Over UIndy

The William Jewell women's basketball team earned a big win over Indianapolis on Saturday 72-56. The Cardinals move to 10-12 on the season and 6-8 in conference play while the Greyhounds who entered the day fourth in the league, fall to 16-6. 

How it Happened
  • The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead, connecting on four threes and led 16-10 after one quarter. 
  • Jewell outscored the Greyhounds 22-6 in the second quarter, including allowing UIndy just a single field goal. Three more triples in the opening minutes of the period quickly pushed the lead to 14 and eventually to a 38-20 advantage by the half. 
  • The Cardinals did not let up out of the break, outscoring UIndy 9-2 through the first three-plus minutes to stretch the lead to the largest of the day at 25.
  • The Greyhounds outscored the Cardinals 11-8 through the first six minutes of the final frame to cut the lead to 16 but could get no closer as Jewell cruised to the victory. 

For the Cardinals 
  • Kiara Bradley collected 20 points to lead the Cardinals to go along with eight rebounds. 
  • Ainsley Tolson added 12 points while Sydney Offield finished with 11 points and six assists. 
  • The Cardinals shot 41 percent from the field including 11 three pointers, the most since mid-January. 
  • Jewell forced 16 turnovers which led to 19 points. 

For the Greyhounds
  • Emma Benoit posted a game-highs of 22 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks to lead UIndy.
  • The Greyhounds won the paint, outscoring the Cardinals 32-20.

The Cardinals wrap up their week of home games as they host Southwest Baptist on Thursday followed by Drury on Saturday for Senior Day.
