ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team tied the score with less than 18 seconds to play in the fourth quarter but UMSL was able to hit two free throws 14 seconds later to walk away the victors on their home floor, winning 53-51. The Cardinals drop to 5-8 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Jewell got off to a strong start going on an early 14-0 run, led by six points from Kiara Bradley, to take the 14-4 lead.
- The Cardinals expanded their lead to as many as 12 in the second quarter after eight straight points from Sydney Offield and Rachel Schon. The Tritons scored the final seven points of the half to make it a 22-17 game, in favor of the Cardinals, at the intermission.
- Jewell maintained a slight lead through the first half of the third quarter before UMSL closed the period on a 15-4 run to lead by seven, their largest margin of the night, at 36-29.
- The Cardinals made things interesting in the final quarter as they opened with a 7-0 run to quickly tie the game at 36 and eventually retook the lead, 45-44 after an offensive rebound by Offield which ended in a Bradley layup. UMSL wasted no time, regaining the advantage on the ensuing possession and eventually pushed it to a 51-45 margin with just over a minute to play. However, the Cardinals weren't done yet as Bradley and Annemarie Boeh each hit triples with under 55 seconds remaining to tie things up at 51. The Tritons were able to get to the free throw line where Alex LaPorta hit two shots with just 4.5 seconds on the clock to life the Tritons to the win.
