LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team scored a season-best two goals on Friday night to push the defending conference champions McKendree to the brink, but 3-2 in overtime. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals wasted no time getting on the board with a goal in the 49th second. Clara Fronabarger found Kate Lawrence on the outside and the sophomore connected from 20 yards out. 
• McKendree tied the match in the 18th minute on a goal by Anna Stiffler
• In the second half, Jewell retook the lead as Fronabarger again dished out a beautiful pass to the outside, this time to Corrine Hughes who beat her defender to find the far side of the goal. 
• A penalty kick in the 69th minute knotted the game at two to force overtime. The Bearcats got another goal from Stiffler in the 98th minute to go home as the victors. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Both Lawrence and Hughes scored their first goals as Cardinals, with Hughes transferring from Kansas City Kansas Community College. 
• Fronabarger recorded her team-high third assist, with the first multi-assist game of her career. 
• Emily Glassman posted eight saves.
