Bond's Golden Goal Lifts Cardinals Past Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - For the third straight season, the William Jewell men's soccer team used late game heroics to defeat Southern Indiana. This season the Cardinals took down the Eagles 2-1 in double overtime to improve to 2-9 on the season and 2-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell took an early lead as Mikhail McComie sent a corner kick around the defense and into the back side of the goal for his third score of the season. 
  • The Screaming Eagles tied the match early in the second half on a goal by Zach Barton. 
  • Despite just two total shots in the overtime periods, the Cardinals came through with a goal by Walker Bond off a feed from Ethan Nichols to push Jewell past USI. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Cardinals took just five shots on the day, with two from McComie, but made the most of them. 
  • Eli Gratz posted 11 saves. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals return to Greene Stadium for the final time this season next weekend as they host Illinois Springfield on Friday and Lewis on Sunday.
