Jewell Hits the Road for GLVC Action at USI, McKendree

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball is back on the road this weekend, traveling to Southern Indiana and McKendree.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • The Cardinals a tough weekend with three-set losses to Lindenwood and Truman. 
  • Hannah Cope is up to a career-best 423 assists this season, putting her 115 from 1,000 for her career, which would make her the fifth player in the NCAA era to reach the milestone and first since 2017. The junior is 12th in the GLVC with 6.13 assists per set. 
  • The Cardinals totaled seven service aces against Truman State, tied for third best this season. Chloe Robison and Kaci Behrens combined for six of the seven aces, career bests for both players.  
  • Jewell has boasted a balanced offense for much of the season with three players with at least 130 kills for just the second time since 2018. Lily Johnson is tops on the team with 170 kills while Katy Garrison has 162. 
  • Jewell continues to be one of the best blocking teams in the GLVC with 165.5 on the season, fifth best in the league. Robison is eighth in the conference with 76 rejections, the highest among all GLVC freshmen.  
     
ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA
  • Southern Indiana comes into Friday's match with an overall record of 13-9, 7-4 in the GLVC, having won their last two matches. 
  • The Eagles are led offensively by fifth year senior setter Casey Cepicky who owns more than 3,000 assists and 1,000 digs. On the season, Cepicky is sixth in the GLVC with 9.45 assists per set. 
  • Abby Bedar is tops on the team with 2.94 kills per set while Leah Anderson and Katherine Koch are close behind with 2.67 and 2.33, respectively. Anderson is also tops in the GLVC with 45 services aces and 0.56 per set. 
  • Defensively, Callie Gubera is seventh in the conference with 4.05 digs per set while three others average better than 2.4. Along the net, Sidney Heggs is eighth in the GLVC with 76 blocks and 0.90 per set (12th). 
  • Randi Raff has overseen a resurgence of the Southern Indiana program, winning a GLVC Championship last spring and has gone 32-19 through her first two seasons. 
 
ABOUT MCKENDREE
  • McKendree sits at 6-15 on the season, 2-8 in conference play this fall, but enters on a three-game skid. 
  • Brianna Binder leads the team with 2.79 kills per set, while Colleen Pruesser adds 2.54. 
  • Macy Tongate runs the show with her 9.07 assists per set. Defensively, Skyler Sieber is tops with 3.29 digs per set while both Binder and Pruesser added 3.09 as the Bearcats are ninth in the GLVC with more than 1,200 digs as a team. 
  • Nickie Sanlin is in her eighth season with the Bearcats, coaching both the women's and men's programs for the Bearcats.
