BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 season on Saturday at Southwest Baptist where they fell 3-1. The Cardinals finish 8-23 over all and 1-17 in the GLVC. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Southwest Baptist used a 6-1 run midway through the opener to build a seven point advantage that the Cardinals couldn't overcome, falling 25-14. 
• Set two was a battle as the Bearcats opened up a quick 10-3 lead but Jewell rallied with an 8-0 run which included five service aces, to tie the set at 18. SBU went back on top by three but two errors and a Tatum Ernt kill got Jewell back within one, but the Bearcats were able to close out the set, 25-23. 
• Trailing by two midway through set three, the Cardinals broke away with a 10-2 run, led by three kills from Bella LaPorta, to build a 23-17 advantage. The Cardinals got the benefit of two errors by the Bearcats to win 25-18. 
• SBU jumped out to a 9-3 lead in set four and never looked back, winning 25-13 and the match 3-1. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Haidan Baade finished with a team-high 14 digs while Hannah Cope had 10 to go along with 15 assists. 
• LaPorta posted nine kills while Lily Johnson and Kaci Behrens each had three aces.
