LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a non-conference tilt with Baker University on Wednesday evening by a final of 56-55. The Cardinals fall to 0-3 with the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell broke away early with a 10-0 run to start the game and force and early timeout after a steal and bucket from Bailey Russell. The Cardinals got a layup from Lea Finn to expand their lead to 14 before the Wildcats rallied with a 19-5 run to tie the game at 24 at the break. 
• Jewell regained the lead, which they held for much of the second half. An offense rebound and put back by Libby Arnold put the Cards up four with under two minutes to play but five straight free throws put Baker back in front, 52-51. Jewell was forced to foul with the Wildcats connecting on 4-of-4 from the charity stripe down the stretch making a three by Kate Hillyer at the buzzer too little too late, falling by one.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Two freshmen led the Cardinals as Hillyer posted a season-best 16 to go with four rebounds while Katelynn Ostronic had 12, also a season-best, along with five boards and four steals. 
• Arnold and Katie Knock pulled down a team-high eight rebounds while D'Aysa Collier-Williams had three assists. 
• Both teams struggled from the floor shooting less than 31% from the floor and 15% from three. 
• Jewell won the battle on the glass 44-43 and forced the Wildcats into 17 turnovers.
