WICHITA, Kan. - The William Jewell women's wrestling program officially opened competition on Saturday at the Falcon Invite, hosted by Friends Unviersity, in Wichita, Kansas. The Cardinals won 15 bouts and saw their first athlete earn a place by day's end.
Allison Meyer had the honor of winning the fist bout in program history with a 10-0 tech fall victory over Zoey Mzeru of Avila.
Savanna McCutchen, one of two transfers on the roster, led the way by finishing fourth overall at 143. After starting the day with a loss she rolled off five straight falls, including one in just 40 seconds and another in 1:01. The sophomore avenged her earlier loss, and tied for the tournament lead with five pins.
Emma Carter started strong at 155, winning three of five matches while
Emalie Olson also won her first two bouts as a Cardinal.
