Balanced Attack Pushes Cardinals Past Lindenwood

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team put four players in double-figures and forced 20 turnovers to move past Lindenwood, 77-68, and win their third straight on Tuesday evening in the Mabee Center. The Cardinals improve to 10-9 overall. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell shot just 29% in the first quarter Ainsley Tolson came off the bench to go 6-for-6 from the free throw line to put the Cardinals on top 15-14 after one period. 
  • Lindenwood went on a run in the second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 21-10 over the first eight minutes to take their largest lead of the day at 35-25. Kiara Bradley hit a three at the buzzer to make it a three point game at the break, 36-33. 
  • Jewell tied the game with 3:43 in the third quarter on a layup by Bailey Russell before Sydney Offield connected with Bradley for a bucket to put the Cardinals back on top. 
  • The Cardinals started the final frame on a 11-3 run to open up a nine-point advantage after a basket by Claire Burch. The Lions got three straight buckets to quickly pull back within two, but Jewell outscored Lindenwood 18-7 over the final four minutes to secure their third straight win. 

FOR THE CARDINALS
  • Burch led the Cardinals with 21 points to go along with seven rebounds in 37 minutes. 
  • Tolson finished with 19 points, three assists and three steals while Offield had 15 points, seven assists and three steals. 
  • Bradley chipped in another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. 
  • Jewell forced the Lions into 20 turnovers leading to 27 points, while committing just eight of their own for no points. 

FOR THE LIONS
  • Julia Ruzevich had a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds while Ellen McCorkle also had a double-double of 14 and 11 respectively. 
  • The Lions shot 39% from the field and 29% from three on the night. 

UP NEXT 
The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday as they host Quincy at 5:30 p.m.
